The Neutrogena Rainbath line comes in three different scents Original, Pear & Green Tea and Grapefruit. Their claim is, “Rainbath® creates a rich, conditioning lather with ingredients that leave skin feeling irresistibly clean, smooth and refreshed. Rainbath® can even be applied as a skin-softening shaving gel for legs, helping save time and money on unnecessary products.” You can also add it to your bathwater to soak in.
When I first received this product, grapefruit scented, the first thing I did was smell it and it does have pleasant scent. There is a light scent grapefruit, but the “other herbs” stands out a bit more. It almost reminds me of a tea smell.
Since the weather here in San Diego has been different hot, cold, Santa Anna, etc. my skin has been extra dry, so I was excited to this. My first shower with this product I was surprised that with a puff you don’t need much product to get a good lather, just about a pump in a half. It does have a great lather and when you rinse it off my skin feels like I have baby oil on my skin. I was worried that it would leave my skin with an oily feeling during, but once I was dry my skin was soft without any trace of oil.
Next I used the shower gel to test their claim that it can be used as a shave gel. I used it on one leg and my normal shave gel on the other. I also used it to shave under my arms and I liked it. The Rainbath and my normal shave gel were pretty similar, so their claim to save money using just one product it true.
Lastly, I used it in my bath when I gave my daughter a bath because she asked for a bubble bath. She has eczema so some soaps can bother her, but this one didn’t irritate her skin at all. She came out of the bath smelling clean and her skin was soft. Though this was fine for my daughter, you would need to test it on your children before continual use.
I looked up the prices online and this bottle (8.5 fl. oz.) ranged from $6.30 (Target) up to $11.50 (Amazon). These were online prices so of course prices may vary within the stores and in different areas. It is a bit pricy, but if you were just using it for one or two people it should last you awhile with the one to two pumps needed.
Overall, I like the Neutrogena Rainbath shower gel and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good shower gel that gives you soft skin with a nice scent that isn’t overwhelming.
