A person’s bedroom is supposed to be their sanctuary that is a place to relax and rest. Is my bedroom like that? No! My bedroom resembles a chaotic bachelor pad. When my husband and I moved in together, I moved into his house that he had already been living in for two years. At one time he had two male roommates, so the whole house had male touches throughout.
When I moved in I didn’t do much to change things because he liked it and I felt weird coming in and changing everything. We had a slab leak in 2011, six years after I moved in and 5 years after we got married, so our whole downstairs needed to be gutted. It was perfect because then I could remodel, with new paint, new kitchen, new fixtures and floors. It was awesome because I could make it ours. Now the downstairs is ours, but our bedroom isn’t. Our bedroom is pretty large, but we have two “office” spaces, 2 large desks on one side of the room. His is for his real estate work and mine is for school, blogging and crafting. The paint color is a horrible brown and the décor is a teenage boys dream. There are movie and band posters on every wall in our room, nothing girly at all.

So this summer I am hoping, if I can talk my hubby into it, to redecorate our bedroom. There are some things we cannot really change like our offices, because we need them and cannot afford new flooring. However, I am determined to de-clutter our space, paint our room a new refreshing and relaxing color, get new bedding, and some new picture wall hangings. It will be great to finally after 9 years of living together and 8 years of marriage to finally make my bedroom a relaxing and adult place to live in that has both masculine and feminine touches.
